Jose Juan Zorrilla Ph.D
Dr. Zorrilla has fourteen years of experience in training, consulting and managing projects related to social development in Canada and internationally. He has worked internationally throughout Latin America for a variety of clients including the World Bank, Inter American Development Bank, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), national and local Governments, private corporations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), universities and multi-national organizations such as the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (NACEC) and the Regional Association of Oil and Natural Gas Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL). With a sound academic background and extensive field experience, Dr. Zorrilla has outstanding analytical skills, as well as a practical approach to problem solving. He specializes in social and cultural aspects of development and has conducted a variety of projects in the sectors of Resources Extraction and Management, Protected Areas, and Tourism and Alternative Livelihood, mainly dealing with indigenous peoples’ issues. He has taught and managed training programs at the community and post-secondary levels. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Council for the Americas – Alberta, and is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Geography, contributing to the International Indigenous Studies Program of the University of Calgary.
