The central alberta office of the HEG is an experiment in sustainable energy. Solar panels (2200 watts), windpower (2700 watts) and solar hot-air (2400 watts equivalent) has resulted in the office building producing more energy than it consumes. The building also utilizes an extra-insulated and green approach in its building design which also contributes to the Net Positive Energy work environment. In additon to being energy efficient, the office uses 3 inches of poured concrete floors as a thermal mass making it a comfortable and enjoyable place to work.
